IntegriCulture and Hamano Products Launch ‘Product Reactor,’ Proving a Scale-Out Approach to Cellular Agriculture

TOKYO, JAPAN – August 14, 2025 – IntegriCulture Inc., a pioneer in cellular agriculture, today announced a major step toward the mass production of cell-cultured foods with the launch of its “Product Reactor.” Developed in collaboration with Hamano Products Co., Ltd., this new production-scale reactor has been installed at IntegriCulture’s facility in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture.
The reactor’s primary goal is to establish a production system capable of producing 10 kg of cell-cultured food per month. This milestone, supported by a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase 3 grant, marks a significant leap forward in IntegriCulture’s mission to build a sustainable food system.
The development of the Product Reactor was made possible through support from Japan’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase 3 Project. This unit is designed from scratch to fit the purpose of cellular agriculture rather than traditional biopharma.

Innovation in Production Technology

To address global population growth and environmental concerns, IntegriCulture is focused on creating a stable, large-scale production system for cell-cultured protein. Since 2021, the company has partnered with Hamano Products, a firm known for its prototyping expertise, to develop a unique reactor designed for mass production.
This “Product Reactor” uses a novel stirring packed-bed” method that enables high-density cell culture while maintaining optimal oxygen concentration in the culture media—a significant improvement over conventional methods.

Achievements and Future Outlook

Using this jointly developed reactor, IntegriCulture has already successfully grown cells and produced a cell-cultured food paste. In February 2025, the company conducted a sensory evaluation to assess the market viability of its product based on taste and flavor.
With the “Product Reactor,” IntegriCulture plans to accelerate its efforts in:
・Evaluating the nutritional content and safety of its cell-cultured foods.
・Developing new menu items and applications.
